One of the defining plays of Chrebet’s illustrious career occurred in game four of his rookie season when he turned a
small five-yard reception into a brilliant 32-yard gain, breaking four Atlanta Falcons tackles along the far sideline and taking the ball to the brink of the goal-line.
Chrebet's longest career reception came against the Miami Dolphins on October
12th, 1997 when he caught a 70-yard pass from Neil O’Donnell.
During his career Chrebet caught passes from 13 different players: Boomer Esiason, Bubby Brister, Glenn Foley, Frank Reich, Neil O’Donnell, Ray Lucas, Vinny Testaverde, Rick Mirer, Tom Tupa, Curtis Martin, Chad Pennington, Quincy Carter and Brooks Bollinger.

Wayne Chrebet was inducted into the Hofstra
University Hall of Fame on February 25th, 2006 and his jersey was retired.
Wayne Chrebet returned to the field wearing
his trademark #80 and was formally honored by the New York Jets on September 23rd,
2007 during halftime of the Jets vs. Miami Dolphins game.
